BEIRUT, Jan. 27 (Xinhua) -- The World Bank's Board of Executive Directors approved 350 million U.S. dollars on Tuesday for Lebanon to support poor and vulnerable groups amid its economic recovery and improve key public services through digital transformation.

According to a World Bank statement, the financing backs two projects, with 200 million dollars allocated to the Social Safety Net Enhancement and System Building Project for the expansion of social protection systems, while the remaining 150 million dollars will fund the Lebanon Digital Acceleration Project to advance the digitalization of priority government services.

"Lebanon is witnessing a fragile recovery," said Jean-Christophe Carret, World Bank Division Director, Middle East Department. "This new financing package is designed to strengthen Lebanon's economic recovery, job creation, and the country's ability to deliver high-impact public services to all its citizens."

Lebanon's crises have worsened long-standing economic and social challenges, pushing more people into poverty and exposing households to food insecurity, poor nutrition, and limited healthcare, the World Bank said. ■
