BUENOS AIRES, March 14 (Xinhua) -- Florian Monzon and Lucas Robertone scored in each half as Group A leader Velez Sarsfield secured a 2-0 away win over Platense in Argentina's Apertura tournament on Saturday.
Monzon put his side ahead in the eighth minute when his powerful shot flew into the top-right corner after taking a deflection.
Robertone doubled the advantage just after halftime with a long-range drive that beat goalkeeper Matias Borgogno at his near post.
Platense had several chances to reduce the deficit in the second half but couldn't find a way past Colombian goalkeeper Alvaro Montero, who made five saves.
The result leaves Velez seven points clear of second-placed Union Santa Fe while Platense is sixth, eight points off the pace.
Elsewhere in Argentina's top flight on Saturday, Jaminton Campaz scored a late winner as Rosario Central won 2-1 at home to Banfield. ■
